On May 7, 2011 at 7:31 p.m. at Lynchburg General Hospital, God saw fit to claim one of His own, William Daniel "Doug" Craghead, age 66, of Bedford. He was born January 13, 1945 to the late Henry Edward and Mary Catherine (Dorothy) Craghead of Bedford, VA. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church many years ago. Doug attended Susie Gibson High School. He was employed by Singer Furniture for 34 years and worked at Valleydale Foods until he became ill five and a half years ago. In addition to his parents, Henry Edward and Mary Catherine (Dorothy) Craghead, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Edward Craghead, James Calvin Craghead, and Lewis Edward Martin. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, 10 months, Marion L. Craghead, three daughters, Lisa C. Johnson (Raymond), of Madison Heights, VA, Pamela Craghead of Bedford, VA, Natalie Turner of East Orange, NJ; three sons, Bobby Eggleston (Stephanie) of Bedford, VA, Ronald Goode (Melissa) of Evington, VA, Thomas Stewart of Roanoke, VA, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters, Florine Robertson (Emmet) of Madison, WI, Mae Watson (Osborne), Barbara Hall (John) both of Bedford, VA; brothers, Gary Wayne Craghead (Annabell), Gerald Craghead (Barbara), Michael Craghead (Melissa), all of Bedford, VA, Donald Craghead (Jackie) of Roanoke, VA; 5 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, including Daniel Nelms.
