William "Billy" Claytor, Jr. age 87, of Bedford, Virginia entered into eternal rest on September 3, 2013 at Bedford County Nursing Home. He was born on March 2, 1926 in Bedford County to the late Ruby Burford Claytor and William (Will) Claytor, Sr. William was married to the late Caroline Steptoe and to this union four children were born. In addition to his wife and parents, William is preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Claytor, eight siblings, Hellen, Dorothy, Bertha, Alfred, Pete, Clarence, James, and Carnell, and a son-in-law, Pete Goode. William attended Bedford County Schools and in 1944 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during World War II. He was discharged in 1946 with an Honorable Discharge. He moved to Washington, D.C. and lived there for over 45 years. He returned to Bedford and made his residence at Bedford County Nursing Home on January 19, 2009 until September 3, 2013 when the Lord called him from labor to reward. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and especially the many caregivers and the staff at Bedford County Nursing Home. William is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Diane Wright (Melvin) and Carol Maxine Goode both of Bedford, VA and Brenda Gail Claytor of Lynchburg, VA, a foster son, Tony Wiggins of Norfolk, VA, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
