Obituary

A precious one from us has gone; A voice we loved is still A place is vacant in our hearts and home Which can never be filled. Walter Alexander Bonds slumbered into his eterndal rest on March 26, 2013 in the Oakwood Manor Department of Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1924 to his late mother, Davies (Hurt) Bonds and father, Eugene Bonds, in the Moneta community of Bedford County, Virginia. He spent his early childhood in Bedford County and attended the Bunker Hill Elementary School. He joined the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in his early years and attended there often, while also attending and working in his wife's church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Body Camp community. He loved singing and preaching, but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He leaves to mourn his wife, Kathryn Louise Nelms Bonds of Bedford, VA, a daughter, Hazel Delores Bonds Person of Roanoke, VA, a son, Walter Eugene (Rhonda) Bonds of Bedford, VA; father-in-law Deacon Isaac Nelms of Bedford, VA, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We little knew that morning God was to call your name In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide And though we cannot see you, you are always on our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
