Mrs. Vera Elliott Staples, 71 of Moneta, departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023. She was born in Bennettsville, SC on January 5, 1952. Vera was preceded in death by her father Clarence Elliott, her loving mother Ruby Elliott; son, Kenneth T-Zon Elliott; grandson, Damien Anderson whom she loved dearly; sisters: Hattie Mae McQueen, Martha Elliott, Gertrude McMiller, Lillie Mae Elliott, Louise Elliott, Minnie Armstrong and Lottie Mae Cobb; brothers: Deacon Robert Elliott, Curtis (Cora) Elliott, Willie Elliott, Rufus Elliott, Clarence Elliott Jr. and Ferman Elliott.

Vera gave her life to Christ at an early age. She enjoyed singing on the choir and studying God's word. Vera was employed as a C.N.A. for thirty-two years. She never met a stranger, and she had a caring spirit.

Vera was affectionately known as "Big Mama" by her family and close friends. She would prepare meals every Sunday and would call her loved ones and say "come get you a plate." Vera had a giving heart and she loved people. She will be sorely missed.

Vera leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband of four years, James Staples; sons: Keith (Christy) Elliott, Lonnie (Kimberly) Elliott, Hasan (Danielle) Elliott and James Cole; a loving daughter, Tasha Elliott; grandchildren: Anthony Shelby, Lonnie Elliott Jr., Chanel Elliott, La'Nya Elliott, Hassana Elliott, Madison Lacy and Ny'vera Elliott; great grandchildren: Andrew Taylor, Jisin Anderson, Azaria Elliott, ZiAhir Elliott and Carter Johnson; sisters: Ruth Stuckey, Mary (Nathaniel) Davis and Ann Rose; brothers, Lewis Elliott and Lawrence Elliott; sisters-in-law, Emily Payne and Theresa Staples; brother-in-law, George Staples; best friends, Mary Hill, Brenda Walton and Calrice Simmons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
