Obituary

Ms. Tahmeeka Lennette Johnson, 49 of Bedford, departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1975 to Annette Ross Parker and the late Willie E. Johnson, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Willie Sr. and Lottie Mae Johnson, Burford and Annie Starks; maternal grandparents Granville E. Ross Sr. and Mary Ann Jennings; her stepfather, Donald O. Parker; two aunts Tracy Ross Spinner and Georgia Ross; uncle, Robert E. Ross.

Tahmeeka was educated in the Bedford County School System and graduated from Liberty high School. After which, she was employed at Golden West Foods for many years.

Tahmeeka had a heart of gold, and her love was genuine. She would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Even once her health began to decline, she would assign duties to someone else to make sure that the needs of others were met. Tahmeeka loved her family. She would call and check on everyone. One of the last things she said was "tell my family I love them"!

Despite her illness, Tahmeeka never complained. She fought a long battle, but she always kept her faith and a positive attitude. She was willing to keep fighting. The day before she passed, she said: "If they send me to a rehab they can make me better." She was determined to live. However, God had another plan. He said she had suffered enough, and it was time for her to go home. She will be sorely missed by her loved ones, but they find peace in knowing that she isn't suffering anymore and she's at rest.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sisters Bryanna Adams and Bethany Duncan; devoted aunts Helen (Chester) Coles, Gloria (Steven) Hurt and Ellen Ross; uncle Granville E. Ross Jr.; devoted uncle and aunt, Thomas A. Sr and Jennifer Johnson; great aunts Edna (Harry) Wills, Delores J. Gibbons and Debra Harrison; her stepmother Nancy Johnson; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
