Shirley Sue Hayden, age 74 of Bedford departed this life Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 6, 1948 to the late Annie Kasey Lee and Ned Arrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Hayden Jr.; two brothers, Jimmy Arrington and Major Forrest and a sister-in-law, Sheila Cunningham.

Sue was a loving caring mother, sister, daughter and wife who loved spending time with her family. Sue enjoyed traveling and relaxing with her dog Fluffy.

Sue was employed by Golden West and Carriage Hill before retiring.

She preceded her eldest son Jeffrey Poindexter in death.

Sue is survived by: her children, Sydney Poindexter and Lance Nichols. Her grandchildren, Shantia Richardson, Latrevious Stone, Janya Alston and Ermias "Nip" Nichols. Great grandchildren: Jordan, Tyson, Layla and Kayla. Daughters in love, Sasha Alston and Alesha Harris. Siblings: Ray Arrington (Rosa), Robert Arrington (Lynn), Tim Arrington, Pamela Forrest, Lanna Crews (Willard), and Marie Nelms; the father of her children, Charlie Nichols; Stepchildren, Darlene Herndon, Brenton Hayden, Maria Hayden and Anthony Hurt. Brothers-in-law, Tim Hayden (Phoebe) and Freddy Hayden (Cheryl). Sisters-in-law, Janet Mills (Joe) and Dianne Arrington; and a host of other relatives and friends.
