Obituary

"For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands".   ~Isaiah 55:12

Shante M. Thompson, age 26, of Bedford went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  She was born on October 23, 1989 to Tammy M. Thompson and Randy Jones.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Lee Thompson, whom she adored.

Shante began her walk with the Lord at the age of seven, was baptized and joined the Otterville Baptist Church.  She loved gospel music and especially the awesome singing of her beloved Aunt Jennifer Thompson. She also enjoyed the performances from the praise dancers at her church.  There were many times when she did not feel her best when she was in attendance at OBC, but was uplifted during the service, giving her the strength to carry on.  She often encouraged others by her determination to press on.

She was a 2007 graduate of Liberty High School, and worked for Lyn-Cag as an Aide.  Shante was a wonderful and loving mother.  She was shy, but always spoke her mind and had a great sense of humor.  Shante was strong-willed and made it a priority to look out for her grandfather.   She will be missed by her family and many friends; however we know that she is resting in the arms of the Lord.

Precious memories of Shante are left to her beloved daughter, Ni'Caela Anderson and her guardian children, Mykia and Marzavious Thompson; her loving mother, Tammy M. Thompson; father, Randy Jones; grandfather, Raymond Starks; grandmother, Daisy Jones; five sisters, Marquita Thompson, Alexandra Jones, Teanna Jones, Diana Jones, and Shatero Kerling; four uncles, Everett Thompson (Betty), Edward Thompson (Elaine), Jerry Thompson (Jennifer), and Raymond Jerome Thompson; four aunts, Beverly Rose (Michael), Paula Harman (James), Deirdre Eischens (Don), and Patrice Jones; many other relatives and close friends including beloved friend, Nico Anderson and special devoted friend, Shakia Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Otterville Baptist Church, Bedford, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Friday for viewing at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Bedford Funeral Home, Bedford, VA, (540) 586-9167.
