Nelson R. Hurt, Jr., 53 of Evington, Virginia passed away on December 7, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Nelson was born October 24, 1965 in Bedford, Virginia. He was the youngest of four children. He embraced life and loved sharing it with his soulmate, Doris. Nelson was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and son and loved nothing more than being with his family. Nelson was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed sharing his undeniable passion for cars with his son JT. One of his favorite things was his 1964 Chevrolet truck, which he loved working on and showing. He also loved watching and supporting his granddaughter Alaina in softball and being with his furry friend Twizzler.
Nelson was preceded in death by his sister, Tondylia Hurt.
Nelson is survived by his wife Doris; parents Nelson Sr. and Doritha Hurt of Bedford, Virginia; 2 sons JR (Jessie) Laughlin of Pamplin, Virginia and JT (Tiffany) Laughlin of Evington, Virginia; 5 grandchildren Chelsea, Trey, and Sierra Laughlin of Pamplin, Virginia and Alaina and Tamsyn Laughlin of Evington, Virginia; brother Tony (Jody) Hurt of Bedford, Virginia; sister Janet (William) Poindexter of Bedford, Virginia; 3 nieces Destiny Poindexter, Brielle and Jayden Hurt, all of Bedford, Virginia; and a Nephew Derek Anderson of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11a.m. at Washington Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. Family and friends visitation will be held at Bedford Funeral Home Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 6-7 p.m.
