Monica Reenese
Rogers
Jan 6, 1982 — Sep 7, 2026
Moneta
Monica Reenese Rogers, affectionately known as "Ronnie," was born on January 6, 1982, to Kenneth Rogers and Molly Bonds. She suddenly departed this life on September 7, 2026.
Monica accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Emanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she shared her amazing singing voice as a member of the youth choir.
We know that Monica was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her beloved aunt and second mom, Littie Mae English, affectionately known as "Shawty." In addition to Shawty, Monica was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Loretta M. Bonds; paternal grandmother, Stella Prunty Rogers; maternal grandfather, Alfred English; and paternal grandfather, Joe Lewis Rogers.
Monica entered the workforce as a teenager and left her mark on everyone she came in contact with. She spent the majority of her career at Food Lion, where she worked her way up to Customer Service Manager. Following decades at Food Lion, Monica worked for Goodwill until she decided to devote herself full-time to the job she loved most: taking care of her beloved Shawty.
In addition to being a devoted caregiver to her aunt, Monica prided herself on being a great mom to her children, Ja'Daya and Cameron. Monica adored her children more than anything and dedicated herself to being the best mommy she could be to them.
Monica had an infectious smile that could light up a room. She always had words of encouragement, wisdom, advice, or motivation to share with those she came in contact with. And if she didn't have any of those things, she always had a joke—and probably an interesting nickname for you.
At the end of any plans Monica would make, she would always say, "God's Will." Those two words reflected the way she lived her life: by God's will.
Left to cherish her amazing memories are her children, Ja'Daya Rogers "Sissy" and Cameron Thomason "Cam", both of the home; her mother, Molly Bonds of Moneta, Virginia; her father, Kenneth Rogers (Brenda); one brother, Tyrone Schoolfield (Lauren); one nephew, Camdyn Schoolfield; two nieces, Amya Clark and SciAnn Schoolfield; ten aunts, Irene Mayo, Lucy Kasey, Shirley Bonds (Wayne), Carolyn Jones, Brenda Bonds, Linda Witcher (Richard), Viola Marie Martin, Roberta Bolden, Queen Martin and Pamela Bonds; two uncles, Lee Bonds and Lendale Bonds; two godbrothers, Reggie Jones and Thomas Kasey; special friends, Shanellia Martin, Sandy Eggleston, Beverly Eggleston, Victoria Harper, Cynthia Leftwich and Jessica Berger; and three special young people whom she held near and dear to her heart, Zaymar Carson, Zariyah Carson, and Kaisen Moon, along with a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
Monica shared an especially close bond with a group of cousins who were much more like sisters: Valarie Eggleston ("Leen"), Ashley Smith ("ButterPecan"), Michele Bonds ("NayBonds"), and Faith Eggleston ("Lil Junebug in a Sundress"). Her jokes, motivation, randomness, love, and overall presence will be greatly missed in the group chat—and all across Moneta and surrounding areas in the lives of the people who knew & loved her.
Monica's life was filled with love for her children, her family, her friends, and her faith. Monica was selfless in every way and rarely complained. She loved hard and cared deeply for everyone in her life. Her beautiful smile, encouraging spirit, sense of humor, and the love she freely gave will remain with everyone blessed enough to have known her.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Monica is reunited with Shawty. Monica always ended every plan she made by saying, "God willing." While our hearts may not understand, we trust that it was God's will to bring her home to Him.
