Mildred Virginia Payne of Bedford, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was born October 18, 1939 to the late James Daniel and Otelia Fuqua Johnson. She joined Court St. United Methodist Church at an early age. Mildred attended Oakmulgee Elementary School and graduated from Susie G. Gibson High School. Mildred moved to New York City in 1960 and returned to Virginia in 2007. She was a dedicated Supervisor at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She was a preceded in death by five beloved brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Larry Richie, Sr.), one granddaughter, Twanisha, and one grandson, Larry, Jr.; three sisters, Annie J. Lynton of Bedford, VA, Edna J. Wills (Harry) of Washington, DC, and Delores J. Gibbons of New York City; one sister-in-law, Cora P. Johnson; a devoted nephew, Cleveland Johnson, a loving niece, Kei-Kei Staples and a host of other relatives and friends.
