Maxine Lorene Goode, age 68, formerly of Evington, VA, departed this life in Concord, NC on August 29, 2018. She was born on January 18, 1950 to the late Hebert R. Calloway and Irene A. Austin. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randolph H. Austin (Randy) and Leroy W. Calloway.

Maxine graduated from Susie G. Gibson High School. She married her high school sweetheart which took her to Anchorage, Alaska for over 40 years, where she retired from the Federal Government after 30 years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Elmer N. Goode of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Lenore (Cedric) Moss of Tampa, FL and Teresa A. Goode of Dallas, TX; one son, Elmer J. Goode (Terry friend) of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Malik Moss (Daneille friend) of Houston, TX, Tre Leggett-Goode and Dre Leggett-Goode both of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Gaynelle C. Creasy and Estelle Slaughter both of Lynchburg; one brother, Mack L. Calloway of Evington; two loving nieces, Kasi and Kelli Slaughter both of Lynchburg; extended family, Frieda McNeil, Tommy McNeil, Sonya Hammonds, Warren Hammonds and Ruthie Taylor; a host of loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11am at Poplar Spring Baptist Church (1055 Sycamore Dr. Goode, VA 24556.) Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may view on Monday, September 3, 2018 from noon until 8pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
