Mary Evelyn
Spinner
Jun 11, 1940 — Sep 30, 2022
Bedford
Mary Evelyn Sherman Spinner age 82 of Bedford, VA departed this life on Friday, September 30, 2022 with her daughter Teresa by her side. She was preceded in death by her late parents, Elbert and Ruby Sherman, her brother, Charles Sherman, and sister Claradine Savage.
Mary was educated in the Bedford County Public School system, where she attended Susie Gibson High School. She was employed at Singer Furniture of Roanoke, VA, Peaks of Otter Lodge, and Rubatex Corp. where she retired from after 25 years due to health decline.
Mary was a faithful lifelong member of Otterville Baptist Church, where she joined at an early age. She loved going to church, not only Otterville, but churches all over Bedford County. She would say, "I'm not sitting at home on Sunday, I'm going to church!". She would find a church to attend when hers didn't have service. She enjoyed watching HGTV and Dancing With The Stars in her resting time. Mary loved talking on the phone to her friend Sadie Arrington. After she talked to Sadie, she would call her devoted sister Frances Brown and talk to her until four in the morning. She also enjoyed shopping for her Sunday outfits. Her hats just had to match her suit or her dress. She was a great loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt that will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter and caretaker, Teresa Spinner of Bedford, VA, daughter Phyllis Spinner of Forest, VA, two sons; Richard C. Spinner (Linda) of Richmond, VA, and Nathaniel Spinner (Zethene) of Maryland. Six loving grandchildren; loving granddaughter and caretaker Alexis Spinner, granddaughters Melanie Spinner, Ashley Spinner, and Natalie Spinner. Two grandsons; Derek Spinner, and Nathan Spinner. Three sisters; Dorothy Lowry of Lynchburg, VA, Victoria Sherman of Stanley, VA, and loving sister Frances Brown of Washington D.C. One brother-in-law; Tom Savage of Maryland. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
