Marilyn Tyressa Dabney was born on June 19, 1950 in Goode, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Cobbs and Gertrude J. Cobbs, and brother Willie Lee Cobbs. On Friday, April 9, 2021, God transitioned her to his heavenly home.

Marilyn was educated in Bedford County Public Schools and moved to Alexandria at a young age, where she attended Alexandria City Public Schools and graduated. She also obtained a Bachelor's degree from Strayer University. She retired from the Federal Government in 2014 after 41 years of dedicated service and shortly returned to Goode, Virginia where she was a faithful member of Mt. Zion united Methodist Church.

She loved being around family and friends and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Leslie Traynham (Eric) of Fredericksburg, VA and Kimberly Edmonds (Daryl) of Alexandria, VA; one son, Donald Lee Dabney, Jr. (Yarnique) of Ashburn, VA; twelve grandchildren; DeAndre Dabney, Darian Dabney, Eryka Traynham, Devin Dabney, Acia Edmonds, Ayana Hopkins, Davon Dabney, Dylan Dabney, Jordan Dabney, Dorian Dabney, Dean Dabney, Declan Dabney; ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a special nephew, Deontae Cobbs, and faithful and devoted cousins; Sandra Brown and Phyllis Moore, and a host of other cousins and friends.   This loss will be deeply felt by her family and friends and she will remain forever loved, cherished, and never forgotten.
