Marie C. Sharpe age 82, of Bedford, departed this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 with her loving children and family by her side. She was born on May 29, 1933 in Bedford County, VA to the late James Campbell and the late Lucille Campbell Saunders. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Sharpe and a son, James Allen Harris, Jr.


She was a lifelong member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Bedford County (Peaksville Community.)

She is survived by five children: Ann Peele (Freddie) of Lewiston, NC., Sharon Thomas of Bedford, John Harris (Melvie) of Elgin, SC., Phillip Harris of McKinney, VA. and Troy Harris (Teresa) of Roanoke, VA.; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Allie Black of Lynchburg, VA, Mary Hannah Johnson (Clyde) and Sereina Paynter both of Bedford, VA; a brother, Paul Levere (Sandra) of MD; a devoted mother-in-law, Bernice Blake; brothers-in-law: Harry (Evelyn), Bruce, Harold, Steve Sharpe and Robert Harris, Sr.; sisters-in-law: Helen S. Williams, Madge S. Williams, Shirley S. (William) Mosby, Peggy S. Thompson, Lucinda S. (Jermaine) Brogdon, Iris, Emma, Wanda and Shelby Sharpe; one aunt, Lucinda Mitchell of MD.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Bedford Baptist Church (1516 Oakwood St. Bedford, VA.) Interment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Bedford Funeral Home.
