Lorraine Virginia Johnson departed this life on May 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 28, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edmonia Forrest and a grandson, Warren Bryant, Jr.


Lorraine will be truly missed by her children, grandchildren, and other family members.  Her legacy will live on through each of them in special way.  It brings comfort to the family to know that she is now at peace.

She is survived by her husband, John Edward "Rufus" Johnson; three daughters, Kathy Bryant, Peggy Lipscomb, and Phyllis Coles; four sons, Charles Edward Forrest, Michael (Joyce) Johnson, John (Judy) Johnson, and Keith (Sharon) Johnson; 19 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; one aunt, Betty Rhodes of Evington, VA; many other relatives and dear friends.

Rest On Our Dear Mother

God saw the road was getting rough
and the hills were hard to climb
So He gently closed her weary eyes
And whispered, "Peace be thine".
Her restless hours, her days of pain;
Her weary nights have passed.
Her ever-patient, worn out frame
Has found sweet rest at last.
Sleep on, dear Mother, and take your rest.
We loved you dearly,
But God loved you best.
