Lecious Scott Swain, age 83, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. He was born May 6, 1933 to the late Cornelius Trent and Verna Lee Turner Hayes. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, William Swain; three sisters, Marian LaJean Watson, Helen Hayes and Gloria Jones; five uncles, Baily Turner, Ed Turner, Jack Turner, Kie Turner, and Ruben Turner; four aunts, Hallie Swain, Hazel Turner, Lara Belle Toliver and Teresa Blake.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Evelyn Swain of Bedford; daughter, Debbie Forrest of Havelock, N.C.; two sons, Thomas Forrest of Bedford and Dennis Swain of Roanoke; four brothers, Osborne Watson, Jr. (Mae Pearl) of Bedford, Dennis Watson (Teresa) of Lakewood, NJ, Leroy Watson and Richard Watson both of Asbury Park, NJ.; his "pride and joy" granddaughter, Whitley Cheatwood; two great-grandchildren, Noah Smith and Elijah Smith both of Lynchburg; three sisters, Melina Hayes, Bernice Watson, both of NJ. and Eartha Mae Williams of Atlanta, GA.; five step-sisters, Hellen Dennett (Randolph), Pearl Burdette (Junior), Lizzie Tucker, Hazel Thornton (William), Louise Thornton and Dorothy Mae Warren (James); a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Promise Land Baptist Church (11792 Moneta Rd. Moneta, VA 24121.) Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call the funeral home Friday after noon for viewing.
