Mrs. Joyce A. Thompson, 57 of Bedford, Virginia was born January 2, 1968 to the late Gayle L. Brown and James E. Thomas. She departed this earthly life on April 3, 2025, at her home with her husband and best friend of twenty-five years by her side.

Joyce was preceded in death by her oldest son, James "Jdogg" Calloway; her grandmother, Larvenia E. Brown; her sister, Brenda "Cotton" Calloway; her brother, Darryl Q. "Big Bro" Tucker; and a brother-in-law, Travis Thompson.

Joyce was a loving daughter, mother, wife, sister, and friend. However, the title she cherished most was "Grandma." In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed playing cards and attending bingo games. If she wasn't doing that, she would be popping up at her loved one's houses.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband of twenty-five years, Charles D. Thompson; son, Demetrius (Sony) Calloway; three grandsons, Deshawn Johnson, Demarleous and De'quavious Calloway; one granddaughter, Sierra Calloway; two sisters, Mary Calloway-Jones and Kimberly (Theodore) Johnson; three brothers, Dennis Calloway, James (Natasha) Calloway and Steven (Sharon) Calloway; two aunts, Annie I. Hobson and Lorraine J. Calloway; two uncles, Frances Calloway and Davey Brown. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Peggy Orange; two brothers-in-law, David Thompson and Dewayne Bagey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
