John E. "Rufus" Johnson's Obituary
John E. "Rufus" Johnson, age 83, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his residence.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was later employed at Sam Moore Furniture where he retired after many years. He was married to the late Lorraine V. Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Elaine (Andrew) Robertson, Kathy Bryant, Peggy Lipscomb and Phyllis Coles; three sons, Michael (Joyce) Johnson, John "Sham" (Judy) Johnson and Keith (Sharon) Johnson; one step-son, Charles Edward Forrest; twenty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may view on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 12-noon until 7pm at the funeral home. Arrangements by Bedford Funeral Home.
