Mrs. Janice Whirley Monroe, 61 of Forest, VA departed this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on June 1, 1962 to the late Calvin Whirley, Sr. and Ann Jackson Whirley Carrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Calvin Whirley, Jr.; uncles William, Albert and Delmar Jackson.

She is survived by her husband William Monroe; stepfather Douglas Carrington; adopted son Clarence Hodges; aunt Jean Rose; uncle Lawrence Jackson; stepsister Kimberly Burks; sister-in-law Katherine Jackson; devoted friend Melissa "Sissy" Woolfolk; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
