James Melvin Taborn, age 78, of Lynchburg
,
VA formerly of Oxford, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on April 15, 1940 to the late James Emmanuel Taborn and Nannie Simmons Taborn. In addition to his parents; James was also preceded in death by his brother, Phill Taborn.
James received his education in the Grandville County School System and graduated from Mary Potter Academy in 1960. He then furthered his education at Tennessee A&I, where he played basketball and golf.
James leaves to cherish precious memories, his daughter, Pamela (Leroy) Harris; granddaughter, Brooke; two sisters, Rosemarie Alexander of Oxford, NC and Anna Mae Stroughter of Youngstown, OH; one brother, Joe (Sadie) Taborn of Bedford, VA; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1:00pm at Cross Road Baptist Church, 191 Cross Roads Ln, Evington, VA 24550. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may view on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 1-7pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
