Mr. James "Jerome" Staples, 67 of Moneta, VA departed this life on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was born on June 25, 1956 to the late Pauline Staples. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen, Angel, Paula and Lillie Mae; his first wife, Earnestine Murphy Staples; his second wife, Vera Elliott Staples; numerous aunts and uncles.

James was affectionately known as "Jerome" by his family and friends. He attended Bedford County Public Schools. Jerome was employed for many years at Piedmont Metal Products in Bedford, VA.

In his free-time, Jerome enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes and attending parties/family functions. He loved hanging out with his loved ones and talking "junk." He will be missed by those who were blessed to have known him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James Coles; three grandchildren, Meah Grace Coles, Sophia Gray Coles and Caleb Preston Coles; thirteen stepchildren; a grandchild whom he cared for as his own, Anyah Brown; three siblings Emily Payne, Theresa Staples and George Staples; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
