Obituary

Ida Gail Scott peacefully slipped into eternal sleep on the evening of Friday, September 26, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born to the late Archie Spinner and Verlie Thompson on January 6, 1952. Her childhood years were full of love as she was raised with her siblings and many of her cousins. It was truly one big happy family. She attended school in Bedford County and was a 1969 graduate of Susie G. Gibson High School. "Gail", as she was affectionately called, was baptized as a young child and grew up in the Otterville Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Mr. Glenn Scott and together they began to work in the Altha Grove Baptist Church. She stood by his side when he answered the call from God to become a Deacon, and they were ordained in 1999. Following that, her work increased at Altha Grove as Deaconess, Usher and member of the Hospitality Committee. In each of her roles, she worked diligently and dressed classy, stylish and elegant. Let's face it, Gail loved to shop. She had the taste of a "Queen", and no shopping trip was complete without a delicious meal. She loved to cook and loved to eat! She loved the finer things in life; but more than anything, she loved the Lord. Nothing pleased her more than good spiritual singing and awesome preaching. Gail was not afraid to worship and she did it with a loud voice. Gail worked at Bedford Weaving Mill and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Central Virginia Training Center, where she retired from. She leaves behind many special friends and family members that loved her contagious laugh and cheerful personality. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Spinner and James Glenn Spinner; sisters, Carol Elaine Spinner and Doris "Peachie" Callaham and her husband, Roger, and their son, W.C.; a niece, Larri Monique Spinner, and a nephew, William Poindexter, as well as her stepfather, Deacon Van Thompson. Precious and fond memories are left to her husband, Glenn O. Scott; her mother, Verlie Mae Thompson; sisters, Vanessa (Jerry) Martinez, Annette (Thomas) Robertson, and Doretha Hurt; brothers, Kenneth Spinner, Cecil (Annette) Spinner, Larry Spinner, Archie (Karen) Spinner and David Thompson; her mother-in-law, Gertrude Scott; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Randolph) Wright, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, special cousins and dear friends. Gail, you were a gift sent straight from Heaven; given to us from above, We didn't know how much you would teach us about the meaning of God's love. For true love sometimes means letting go of someone precious and dear, That is what we had to do; although we wanted to keep you here. However, this is quite a selfish wish; one we know we should ignore. But, sweet "Gail", we truly do believe, that God must have needed you more. Perhaps to be an Angel now, full of wisdom and love, Watching over those of us who love you, from the shining stars above. We will miss you more than you can know, you will never be replaced, In our hearts and memories forever, will be your sweet and loving face.
