Hattie "Ola" Murphy Norman age 93, of Moneta, departed this life Friday, September 26, 2014. She was born on March 15, 1921 to the late Robert Emmitt Murphy and Serelda Brown Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Van Buren (Vannie) Norman, son, Orbrie Norman and her five brothers and six sisters. Ola received Christ at an early age and was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church. She received her education by living life. Her pride and joy was her family and her goal was to provide and protect them. Those left to cherish her memories are her son, James "Slim" (Sarah) Norman of Huddleston, VA; her daughters, Lois (Joe) Norman-Anderson and Frances (Lorraine) Norman both of Moneta, VA; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Norman of Moneta, VA; brother-in-law, Sidney Norman of Fairfield, CA; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Murphy of Moneta, VA. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
