Glen Otey
Scott
Feb 25, 1950 — Sep 5, 2019
Lynchburg
Deacon Glenn Otey Scott, age 69 of Lynchburg, VA transitioned peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, September 5, 2019 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Glenn was born on February 25, 1950 to Gertrude Davis Scott and the late Lenwood James Scott, Jr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Gail Scott.
As a young child, Glenn was so mischievous and would get in his uncles' vehicles and drive them up and down the road. He was educated in the Campbell County school system and served honorably in the United States Army. He had a long career as a welder at Lynchburg Foundry (Archer Creek).
Glenn was a faithful and loving son to his Mother. He and his sister, Carolyn were not just siblings, but best friends. They had a standing date on Tuesday and Thursday weekly at Kings Island. While Glenn enjoyed dining out and dressing sharp, more importantly he loved going to church and worshipping the Lord. He had a strong bond with the deacons and trustees at Altha Grove Baptist Church, and he served faithfully until his death. Those that knew and loved him will miss him tremendously; but find comfort in knowing that he is now resting with the Lord.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Gertrude Davis Scott of Lynchburg, VA; sister, Carolyn (Randolph) Wright of Big Island, VA; nephews, Sean (Cecelia) Wright of Bedford, VA and Randy (Trena) Wright of Hanover, MD; many loving aunts and uncles; mother-in-law, Verlie Mae Thompson of Bedford, VA; seven brothers and sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Though his smile is gone forever, and his hand we cannot touch,
We still have so many memories, of the one we loved so much.
His memory is now our keepsake, which with we'll never part,
God has him in his keeping, we have Glenn in our hearts.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten.
