Mr. Gerry Eugene Jones departed this life on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 21, 1959 to the late Eugene Junior Jones and Ernestine B. Bryant.

Gerry was well known for his mechanical skills and his ability to start a race in Moneta anytime he wanted to. He could be heard from the "Ridge" to Body Camp revving motors and doing burn outs with his Camaro. Gerry's love for racing and cars inspired an entire community of young boys and men.

Gerry was a family man and he never met a stranger. He loved all of his children and grandchildren; he gleamed with pride and joy anytime he talked about them. He loved and treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. His loving heart could particularly be seen in his love for his wife of thirty-seven years.

Those left to cherish Gerry's memory are: his wife, Carolyn M. Jones; Eight Children: Gerry Staples (Yolanda), Melissa Richardson, Christy Elliott (Keith), Terry Staples, Clyde English (Courtney), Cheria Taylor (Ricky), Beatrice Staples and Reggie Jones (Hilda); Twenty Grandchildren, two brothers, James Jones and Danny Jones; two sisters, Constance Pettigrew and Faith Ware (Darryl); one aunt, Martha Jones; one uncle, William Jones; seven sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two special friends, Robert Flair (whom he called his brother) and Jimmy Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
