Geary Wayne
Craghead
Jan 11, 1951 — Mar 30, 2016
The world was blessed with the birth of Geary Wayne Craghead on January 11, 1951 to Henry Edward and Mary Katherine Craghead in Moneta, VA. He lived a meaningful and rewarding life; however on the morning of March 30, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital, he gently embraced the outstretched arms of his Master as He safely led him to a land of peace and happiness.
Wayne was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Annabell Cunningham Craghead, his parents, Henry Edward and Mary Katherine Craghead, brothers, Frank, William, James, Lewis, and Mike Craghead, and sister, Florine Robertson.
Wayne attended school in Bedford County and also in West Virginia. He worked various jobs throughout his career. He was a long-time employee of Singer Furniture, and worked at Hooker Furniture prior to him going on disability.
Wayne was a loving and generous man. He got a lot of pleasure from hosting cookouts at his home. He spent time daily at Body Camp store where he went just to chat with neighborhood friends and family. He had a wonderful personality and he never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who lived in the community. The love of his life was his late wife, Annabell, and he cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a role model and an inspiration to them. His family is grateful for all that was afforded him during his lifetime.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his two daughters, Michelle Cunningham of Roanoke, VA and Contina (Eugene) Foxx of Bedford, VA; grandchildren, Donta (Camille) Coles, Geary (Brandi) Cunningham, Sheniqua (Michael) Cunningham, Marquis (Nikki) Foxx, Eunicqua (Rodney) Foxx, Equanna Foxx, and Maurice (Precious) Foxx; great grandchildren, Samiya, Michael, and King Reyes, Deonta, Imani, and Destiny Cunningham, Ny'heem, Ja'maceo, and Daheem Foxx; two sisters, Mae (Osborne) Watson, Barbara (John) Hall, two brothers, Gerald (Barbara) Craghead and Donald Craghead; ten sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, a devoted niece, Latasha Cunningham, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
The Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me."
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again
.
~The Family
Forever With You
I know it's hard and painful now, and your heart is truly breaking,
But I just wanted you to know, as time goes on it will stop aching,
I did not leave you there alone, I'm closer now than ever,
I'm in your thoughts, your mind and dreams; I'll be with you forever.
