Garry Lee Bonds, age 63 of Moneta, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his devoted companion, Scherleen Martin; one son, Christopher Martin; one daughter, Shawkia Prunty; five brothers: Mahlon English (Bedford,VA), Robert English (Moneta, VA), Jonny Harris (Columbia, SC), Phillip Harris (Petersburg, VA) and Troy Harris (Roanoke, VA); three sisters: Muriel B. Jones (Moneta, VA), Sharon Thomas (Bedford, VA), and Anne Peele (SC); step-mother, Marie Sharpe; brother-in-law, James C. Bonds (Rocky Mount, VA); five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2pm at Promise Land Baptist Church (Moneta). Interment will follow in the Emanuel Tabernacle Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Friends may call after 12 noon on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
