Evelina "Cookie" Simmons Nellum, age 62, of Bedford, departed this life on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on December 1, 1956 to the late James Simmons and Lelar Curtis Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Demetrius Simmons.

She is survived by her husband, Terry L. Nellum; sons, Damien D. Jones (Dalerie Brown)and Jamison R. Jones; grandson, Keion S. Brown; step-sons, Eric D. Wade, Brian L. Nellum and Terell J. Nellum; two sisters, Vivian Miller and Hattie Simmons; one brother, James Simmons; two nieces, Zerlina Simmons and Nini Simmons; mother-in-law, Gaynelle Nellum; brother-in-law, Kevin (Veronica) Nellum; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 1pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may view on Thursday from 2-7pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
