Ethel Rixey Alston, age 60, of Bedford departed this life on August 3 ,2017 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Junior Rixey; brother, Cecil Rixey; paternal grandmother, Pauline Rixey; and maternal grandparents, William and Ludie Hurt.

She is survived by three daughters, Sasha, Jasmine and Najea Alston; one son, Jameel Alston; her mother, Margaret Rixey; three brothers, Lewis Hurt (Sharon) of Herndon, VA; Harry Rixey (Karen) of Forest, VA and James Rixey of Goode, VA; one sister, Mabel Spinner (Cecil); the father of her children, Craig Alston; other relatives and a special friend.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2pm at Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Goode, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 6-7pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
