Erma Parker Garrett
, age 88, of Bedford, Virginia, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on June 20, 1928 in Bedford to the late Goldie and Sybil Parker. She is one of twelve children and is survived by one brother, David Parker.
She is also survived by four daughters, Cynthia (Raymond) Arrington, Irma (Roderick) Akers, Judith Garrett, Kathy (Darrick) Wade; two sons, Sam (Cindy) Garrett, Darnell Garrett; daughter-in-law, Gloria Garrett; twelve grandchildren, Dawn, Tory, Jessica, Kelly, Raymond "Peanut", Christy, Terrell, Shawnice, Myeisha, Chauncey, Tyler, and Lilyanne; eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, other relatives and friends. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and loved her so much.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1pm at Word Of Life Evangelical Church (912 Burks Hill Rd. Bedford,VA) Interment will follow in Old Bold Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may view from 12-7pm on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
