"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." Revelation 21:4 According to the Divine Purpose and Plan of our Heavenly Father, an angel was sent early Friday morning, July 20, 2012 and took our beloved Sister Elizabeth Ann Steptoe Moon home to be with the Lord. She was born on January 16, 1961 in Bedford, VA to the late Kiah and Lilly Butler Steptoe. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Calvin Steptoe. Elizabeth was a 1979 graduate of Liberty High School. A few years after graduation, she became a loyal employee of Golden West Foods in Bedford, VA where she worked for close to 25 years until her health prevented her from continuing employment. She was introduced to Thomas E. Moon, Jr. by a close friend in 1987 and three years later they were married. She was a kind, supportive, and loving wife to him for twenty-two years. She became a Christian at an early age and began her work in Christ's kingdom in the Antioch Baptist Church and continued to be a faithful and ardent worker until her death. At Antioch Baptist Church, she was a member of the Deaconess Board, Vice President of the Young Adult Choir, member of the Pastor's Aide Club, the Saints in Prayer (SIP) Auxiliary, and Sunday School Secretary. She never refused a task because of being too busy, too tired, or too ill. She approached every task with a smile and a willing heart. In recent months, she felt an urge to make an impact in the community and joined the Bedford Branch of the NAACP. Today we are silent to pay tribute to a person who has lived among us as "one who went about doing good" and who always put Christ first in everything she did. During her battle with kidney disease and numerous hospitalizations, surgeries, and the illness of her husband, she leaned heavily on the Lord, calling upon Him to help bear the pain and troubles. Elizabeth was a lovable person who befriended everyone she met. She was humble never pushing herself on others, but always stayed in the background working, praying, and doing whatever she was called upon to do for her Master. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas E. Moon, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Frances Steptoe of Spouts Spring, VA, Peggy Steptoe of Bedford, VA; In-laws, Thomas and Margaret (Bea) Moon of Lynch Station, VA, brother-in-law, Marvin Moon (Barbara) Savannah, GA; sister-in-law, Veronica Moon of Lynch Station, 3 nieces, Lalonia Garcia (Rafael) Danville, VA, April Moore (Isaiah) Rustburg, VA, and Tiffany Steptoe of Bedford, VA; 2 nephews, Antoine Woodruff (Pam) of Colorado Springs, CO and Drew Steptoe of Sacramento, CA, 11 great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
