Early Monday morning, April 18, 2011, our mother, Grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend departed this life. Doris T. Jones was the daughter of Thomas Thomasson and Virgin Mary Casey Thomasson. She was born on April 6, 1921 in Goodview, VA. Doris was the last surviving child of eight brothers and six sisters. Doris attended school in Bedford County. She joined the Green Spring Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined Washington Street Baptist Church as a watch care member and later moved her membership. She helped Mrs. Dawson in the kitchen and was an Usher. Doris was an early riser and went to bed early. She read her Bible most nights and sometimes in the morning. Doris was predeceased by her husband John I. Jones. Those left to treasure her memory are her children, John T. (Frances) Jones, Gail (John) Harris, Karen (Archie) Spinner; grandchildren, Tyrone (Tawnya) Jones, Janine Jones, John (Holly) Harris, Jeron (Lonice) Harris, Derrick Spinner (Theria), Kristen Spinner (Ronny), Sean Spinner (Kayce), great grandchildren, Tyler Harris, Autumn, Khloe, Kaelyn, Sean Tyler, and Christopher; foster daughter, grand and great grandchildren, Shebra Jones, Lavenia, Antoine, Anthony, Pamela, Evonia, special nephew, John Thomasson; and special friends, James and Linda Swain. James did not miss a week coming to see her until he became ill. She leaves her dear friend and neighbor Rosa Johnson, and a host of other relatives and friends, including her telephone buddies.
