Holland
Aug 22, 1960 — Jun 11, 2022
Moneta
Mr. Dennis Lee Holland at the age of 61 gained his heavenly wings on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at his residence. Dennis was born the third child to the late Lester Holland Jr. and Bernice Murphy Holland. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brother James Lewis Holland, maternal grandparents Charlie and Lucille Murphy, his paternal grandparents Lester and Blanche Holland, and several other family members.
Dennis affectionately known as "Hollywood" was a graduate of Staunton River High School in Bedford County. Dennis maintain his livelihood by becoming a self-taught brick masonry and in his pass time he loved working on and building cars to take drag racing and not only for himself but loved helping his friends and fellow drag racers to build their race machine as well. But his greatest joy was knowing and watching his grandson Trey follow in his footsteps of loving drag racing as well as he did.
Dennis was not a stranger to anyone and loved being around his family and friends having the time of his life. As GOD whispered in his ear to come home, Dennis left in peace knowing he was celebrated with something he dearly loved a drag car show in his honor.
Those left to cherish his memory is his daughter Cassandra Janay Eggleston (Kinte Robinson); grandson Tremayne Malik Eggleston, Moneta VA; two sisters, Barbara J. (Lorenzo) Martin, Moneta VA, and Debra H. (Gary) Mayo, Fincastle VA; one brother, Glenn "Chuckie" (Lena) Dent, Roanoke, VA; four aunts Lena Young, Bedford VA, Gaynelle Ackerson, Jacqueline Beale, and Shirley Akers, Roanoke, VA; one uncle Tommy Holland, Roanoke VA; 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 3 great nieces, 4 great nephews, and a host of cousins and friends. Very special family and friends Rodney Eggleston, Sandra Kasey, John Young, Quintin Murphy, John Whitten, Mildred Crider, Muriel Jones, Geraldine and Bruce Wills, and Sandra Eggleston.
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopping beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes "the best."
