Obituary

Mrs. Debra Bobbitt Bonds departed this life on February 12 th 2021 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on December 7 th 1957 to the late Walter L. & Thurzetta "Girlie" Bobbitt.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tony Bobbitt and two sisters, Peggy Ayers and Connie Ferguson.
Known to most as "Debbie" or "Mrs. Debbie", Debbie touched everyone she met during her 20 plus years of driving the school bus for Bedford County Public schools. When she wasn't driving the bus, Debbie spent her time being a full time grandma to her grandchildren, all of whom she adored. If you wanted to see her face light up, just mention one of her grandchildren. Debbie was a family woman who never met a stranger, and even as her health failed, Debbie as only Debbie could, established a friendship with her nurses at Dialysis, who she grew to love very much.
Debbie was the bus driver who would give you more time than you deserved when getting on the bus, and the one who was never afraid to laugh with the kids on her bus. . The sister & sister in law who could be counted on for deviled eggs at any function, The aunt who could keep a secret, The "cool grandmother" who never missed any of her grandchildren's most precious life moments, and above all else she was the wife & mom who loved and supported her children & husband more than anything. Her contagious laugh, motherly & caring spirit will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 33 years, Lee Bonds; two daughters, Christy Martin (Daniel) and Ashley Smith (Kieron); one stepdaughter, Joyce Burdette; six grandchildren: Zachary Bowyer, Sydney Martin, Colby Martin, Christopher Smith Jr, Carson Smith, and Kaisen Moon; one great granddaughter, Luna Bowyer; two step grandchildren, Kylia and Kylin Burdette; one sister, Patricia Cronk; one brother, Bobby Bobbitt; two aunts, Marie Bobbitt and Essie Bobbitt; three brothers-in-law: Alfred Bonds, Harold Ayers and James Ferguson; seven sisters-in-law: Robbie English, Littie English, Irene Mayo, Lucy Kasey, Shirley Bonds, Molly Bonds, Carolyn Jones, and Brenda Bonds; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
