Deacon Bernard E. Watts, age 80, of Lynchburg, VA entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, May 23, 2020 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Bernard was born on August 12, 1939 to the late Geneva and Gilbert Watts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Love and Maxine Morton, and a brother, Curtis Watts.

Bernard professed Christ at an early age and became a lifelong member of Holcomb Rock Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He was ordained as a Deacon; and was a past member of the Brotherhood Club and the Men's Choir. He was currently the assistant Superintendent of the Sunday school and a member of the Senior Choir. He graduated from Susie G. Gibson High School, where he met the love of his life, Irene. Bernard and Irene were united in holy matrimony and had celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to his passing. His humble spirit, love for his family, and enjoying the simple things in life, such as yard work, keeping up with current events, and worshipping the Lord made him the happiest. He will certainly be missed by all that grew to know and love him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved and devoted wife, Deaconess Irene M. Watts; his devoted daughters, Constance "Connie" Watts and Bernadette "Shelly" Watts and fiancée, Tony Booth; one loving grandson, Zachary Bernard "Zach" Watts; his goddaughter, Tracy Miller-Goode (Thomas); three nieces, Doretha (Lee) Jones, Debra Love and Jacqueline Morton-Johnson; five nephews, Phillip, Joe, and David Love, Ralph and Timothy Morton; five sisters-in-law, Dorothy Polk, Georgia Spinner, Blanche (Johnnie) Harris, Debra (Frank) Clark, DeDe Williams; three brothers-in-law, James Miller, Donald (Jackie) Miller, and Ronnie Miller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and great friends.
