Obituary

Mr. David Duval Reed, Jr. 42 of Bedford, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1982 to David Reed, Sr. and the late Pearl King. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth "Granny" Singleton; paternal grandparents Almore and Edna Reed; aunts Mattie Saunders and Cora Franklin; uncles Thomas, Alvin, Howard, Elmore and Arthur Read; and his favorite uncle Frank "Groovy" Lewis, Sr.

David gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church along with Oakmulgee Baptist Church. He grew into a true king over the years; no task too big or small for him to handle. David was a gentleman; he would open doors for the elderly and even entertain children. He was willing to do what needed to be done. David was overprotective of his family and friends and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.

David graduated from Liberty High School, class of 2001. He studied brick masonry while at Bedford Science and Technology Center. Early on David started in a restaurant working in the kitchen, but soon he found his way to the family business (construction). There in construction, David found his peace. Many of his relatives were in the same field. Unfortunately, due to an automobile accident, he was forced to retire from Sperberg Masonry. David was always proud of the finished work that he helped accomplish.

As a young man, David was very energetic and determined. He enjoyed many sports including baseball, basketball and football. He played for the rec. center and won many trophies along the way. As an adult, he loved to travel, trying new foods and activities, playing cards, watching his favorite team (Dallas Cowboys) and he enjoyed family gatherings.

David loved his family. He enjoyed attending his daughter's school events and cheering on his nephews, supporting their dreams and future goals. David will be sadly missed but forever remembered by his loved ones.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter Journey Pearl Tolliver-Reed; father David Reed, Sr. (Nancy); brother Christopher Reed, Sr. (Meeka); maternal grandfather Charles King, Jr.; uncles Charles King III (Becca), Rev. Albert Read (Patricia) and Lawrence Read; great uncle James Gross; aunt Linda B. Lewis; cousin who was like a sister, Natasha Y. King; special cousin Barbara Anderson; his fiancé Tonya Tolliver; nephews, Christopher Reed Jr., Christian Reed and Keion Brown; godparents Lawrence Jones (Nikki). He is also survived by his mother figures, Gracie Bryant and Audrey Lewis Jordan; his fiancés parents whom he cherished, Robert & Jeannie Wright; his fiancés sister Dalerie Brown; a host of other relatives and friends.
