David Junior
Hayden, Jr.
Jan 18, 1956 — May 13, 2018
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:6-7
David Junior Hayden, Jr., age 62, of Bedford went home to spend eternity with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He passed away peacefully at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
David, also affectionately known as "Catfish" was born on January 18, 1956 in Bedford, VA to the late David J. Hayden, Sr. and Maria Hayden Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul Mitchell and a loving sister, Sheila Hayden Cunningham.
David grew up in the Bunker Hill Community, known now as OCR. He was a faithful member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. He attended Staunton River High School. He had a great career, working at Golden West Foods, then Rich Seapack in GA. He ultimately returned to Bedford and worked at Longwood Car Wash. Cars were his hobby; whether he was washing them, drag racing them, or showing them at car shows. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed traveling and would even bring his dog, Fluffy along when he attended church, where she sat patiently in the car during service. He was faithful, loyal and a man of his word. His friends and family will miss him immensely, but are comforted in knowing that he is now at peace.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley "Sue" Hayden; his children, Brenton (Tylissa) Hayden, Maria Hayden, Anthony Hurt; stepchildren, Jeff Poindexter, Sidney Poindexter, and Lance Nichols; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Janet (Joseph) Mills, two brothers, Frederick (Cheryl) Hayden and Timothy (Phoebe) Hayden; a special brother-in-law, Rev. Ray (Rosa) Arrington, a supportive and devoted friend of the family, Sasha Alston; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and amazing friends, and his special pet doggie, "Fluffy".
To My Family… No matter what you face in life, don't let go of God's hand. Every blessing assigned to you will come. It is He who holds you today and tomorrow in the palm of His hand, Just Trust Him. ~Love, David (Cat)
