Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."                                                                                       ~2 Timothy 4:7

Curtis "Coo" Bryant Sr., age 85, of Bedford, VA went to be with the Lord in the early morning of June 5, 2018.  He was born on October 22, 1932 to the late Joseph and Lillie Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Bryant and Phillip Hurt; four sisters, Jean Bryant, Bloise Bryant, Jeannine Snead, and Nona Abbott; and his in-laws Clint and Mattie Blake.

At an early age, Curtis sacrificed his education to work on the farm in order to help feed and provide for his younger siblings. Later, he went to work for Norfolk & Western Railroad where, after decades of dedicated service, he retired. Curtis was a lifelong member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Curtis always left a lasting impression with people he encountered. He never met a stranger nor left a road untraveled.  Every day he would put on his baseball cap, hop in his truck, and take a ride. It was likely you could run into him anywhere! Although he will be missed tremendously, those who knew and cared for him find comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering.

He leaves behind loving memories to his wife, Georgia L. Blake Bryant;  his five children, Jeanette Martin (Roger), Curtis Bryant, Jr., Renee Bryant-Jones, Donnell Bryant, and Joseph Bryant; four siblings, James Oris Bryant (Hilda May), Percell Bryant (Mary), Carolyn Dudley, and Linda Lewis (Frank); six grandchildren, Vicky Johnson, Gary Johnson, Roger Martin, Jr., Felicia Jones-Baker (Jamel), Darwin Bryant, and Rickki Lea Jones; two sisters-in-law, Irene Brown and Arlene Blake; and a host of special great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Western Light Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may view on Friday from 12-8pm in the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
