Obituary

Claude Price Alexander, Sr. departed this life on June 16, 2026, at the age of 96. Claude was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, loyal friend, and a source of strength and wisdom to all who knew him. Born on January 11, 1930, in Campbell County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Quinton and Cora Alexander.

Claude lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his working years, he was employed by Preston Brothers Lumber Company, Lane Furniture Company, and Meredith/Burda (RR Donnelley), from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Above all else, Claude treasured his role as a husband and father. He led by example, teaching the values of compassion, perseverance, and respect through both his words and actions. His family will forever remember his guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. Whether offering advice, sharing stories, or simply being present when needed most, he had a remarkable way of making others feel valued, supported, and loved.

Throughout his life, Claude enjoyed gardening, hunting, plumbing, and lending a helping hand whenever called upon. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on his beloved Washington Redskins, now known as the Commanders. His warm smile, generous spirit, and gentle sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Claude leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 72 years, Laura Alexander; his children, Claude Alexander, Jr. (Virginia), Tony Alexander, Connie Bryant (James), and Ronnie Alexander (Dr. Heather); goddaughter, Bridget Arnone; his grandchildren, Leagene Alexander, Stephanie Alexander, Brian Alexander, Jamerson Bryant (Crystal), Kendra Alexander, Corie Younger, Maya Alexander, Brittany Robinson, Dr. Camille Alexander, and Christopher Alexander; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Petunia Barlow; his uncle, Thomas West; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Bobien and Dr. Mamie Lee; one brother-in-law, Robert Turner (Anita); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will continue to honor his memory with love and gratitude. Claude was preceded in death by his parents; ten sisters: Arneda Brown, Thelma Garrett, Irene Alexander, Frances Burnett, Rachel Rhodes, Anniebell Foxx, Queen Gregory, Iris Gregory, Geraldine Berger, and Ruth Minor; and one brother, Charles Moon. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and the enduring legacy of love he created. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed every day.
