Brother Rufus Alexander Jennings, age 82 of Bedford, VA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 15, 2026. He passed away peacefully at his home. Rufus was born on March 13, 1944 in Buckingham County, VA to the late Walter P. Jennings and Caroline Jones Jennings. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Jennings; five brothers and one sister.

Rufus accepted Christ at an early age and joined Reed Creek Baptist Church in Big Island, VA. While in attendance he served as a deacon and sang on the choir for many years until his health failed.

Over the years, Rufus was employed at Elks Home, Eagle Eyrie, Bedford Weaving Mill, Good Battery and Jennings Cleaning Service.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary Lee Jennings; two daughters, Brenda (Tim) Tanner of Bedford, VA and Jackie (Eddie) Rice of Lynchburg, VA ; three sons, Barry Allen Jennings (Johnny McGlothlin) of Cedar Bluff, VA; James Starks of Bedford, VA and Greg (Amy) Jennings of Denver, CO; a host of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Anniemae (George) White of Big Island, VA. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
