Obituary

Brenton Jermaine Hayden, age 46, of Bedford departed this life unexpectedly on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1975, to the late David J. Hayden, Jr., and Mary Wright. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Wright, grandparents, Maria and Paul Mitchell and Gertrude and Harry Wright, Sr.

Brenton was affectionately known as "Brent", "Hook" and "Pooh" by family and friends. Brent graduated from Staunton River High School in 1994 and was employed with Adams Construction, Lynchburg; but his passion was detailing cars and he did it well.  He took pride in his work and never had a dissatisfied customer. His hobbies included drag-racing, traveling, music, dancing, singing, eating out, playing spades, and just hanging out with his family.  Whether it was family events, sporting events, or watching his Washington Redskins football team (yes, he still referred to them as the Redskins), Brent spread his love deeply and did so daily.  His calls started each morning at around 6:00 a.m. with his sister, Maria, and continued throughout the day, checking in and letting those closest to him know how much he loved them.

Brent was united in marriage on December 19, 2016, to Tylissa Hayden.   Weekend trips were what they enjoyed most, riding out of town and loving life.  He adored his grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. Brent knew the Lord and often shared how thankful he was that he had a personal relationship with Him.  His outlook on life was humbling and he often talked about how proud he was of his nieces, nephews, and cousins "doing big things".  He will be missed by all that knew him, but we are at peace knowing that God does not make mistakes and He does all things well.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tylissa Hayden, children Brentony Hayden and Alexus Millner, stepchildren, Isaiah and Alanta Hall, grandchildren, Qwaliek, Ataijah, Emmanuel, Taziah, Zhi-Juan, Nariyah, Damir, and Sh'ibae; his loving mother Mary Wright; sisters Setonia (Bryan) Johnson-Bey and Maria Hayden, brother Anthony Hurt; loving aunts Janet (Joseph) Mills, Gaynell Nellum, Roberta Holland-Diuguid, Shirley Forrest, Joyce (Michael) Johnson, Rhonda (Eugene) Bonds and Tabitha Wright; uncles Timothy (Phoebe) Hayden, Frederick (Cheryl) Hayden, Harry and Michael Wright, mother-in-law Marie Johnson, father-in-law Lewis Hall, seven nieces, four nephews, his children's mother, Lisa Ross Hayden, devoted friend Rick Fleming, and an abundance of loving cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
