Billy E. Gilmore age 85, of Bedford went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2014. He was born on May 16, 1929 to the late Rhoda Gilmore and James Blake, Sr. Billy joined the Western Light Baptist Church at an early age. He was known as a great handyman. He was a dedicated employee of Coffey and Saunders Hardware Store in Bedford for many years. In 1984, he was united in marriage to Vickie Payne Gilmore. He is survived by his wife, Vickie P. Gilmore of Bedford, VA; five children, Ruth Ann Clark (Freddie) of Detroit, MI, Billy David Gilmore (Jaquetta) of Rustburg, VA, Helen Gilmore of Bedford, VA, Bernise Reed (James) of Lynchburg, VA, and Michael Gilmore (Stephanie) of Bedford, VA; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; one sister, Lillian Brown; five sisters-in-law, Barbara Blake, Jean Ferguson, Mary Payne, Rachel Balletine (John), and Constance Race (John); three brothers-in-law, Bobby Payne (Vickie), Charles Payne, Joey Payne (Carol); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
