Annie Mae Payne, age 79 of Bedford, VA departed this life on January 26, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 5, 1935 in Littleton, NC to the late Sarah Gilchrist. Annie Mae leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Carol (Lorenzo) Johnson of Thaxton, VA; one son, Carlton Payne, Jr. of Bedford, VA; four granddaughters, Felicia (Erick) Spinner and Stacy Spinner both of Bedford, VA; Channon Payne of Atlanta, GA and Shamika Robertson of Roanoke, VA; one grandson, Carlton Payne, III of Bedford, VA; two great grandchildren, Destiny "Pookie" Spinner and Latavia "Tay Tay" Craghead; five brothers, Alonzo (Priscilla) Gilchrist of Littleton, NC, Horace Gilchrist, Alton (Mary Lou) Gilchrist, Charles Gilchrist, all of Bedford, VA, Melvin (Wanda) Gilchrist of Staten Island, NY; one sister, Burnell (Earl) Adams of Forest, VA; many devoted friends who all had a special place in her heart, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
