Annie Y. Johnson age 79, of Bedford, died Sunday, January 24, 2016. She was born to the late Otha and Mamie Staples on March 13, 1936. She was also preceded in in death by her husband, Fletcher E. Johnson, Sr.

Annie joined the First Baptist Church (Goode,Va) at an early age. She was employed at Golden West Food for many years.


She is survived by eight daughters: Ann (Gregory) Turner, Nancy (Joseph) Johnson, Delores Robertson, Linda (Walter)Wooten, Jacqueline (William) Bryant, Cynthia Johnson, Lisa Starks, and Carolyn (Bruce) Starks; two sons, Fletcher (late wife: Katherine) Johnson, Jr. and Melvin (Marelyn) Johnson; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, one sister: HerthLou Staples; two brothers, Miller and John Ed Staples; a loving friend, JoClaire Smith; five sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Washington Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
