Amil David Wilcox, 53 of Bedford, gained his heavenly wings on June 10, 2023 at the place he called home for thirty-nine years: Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 31, 1969 to the late Bernice Hopkins Wilcox and Morris Palmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wilcox; beloved grandparents Lanford and Lillie Hopkins; and a host of other relatives he held dear to his heart.

David had a smile like no other, and he touched many lives in spite of his incapacitated state since the age of 14. When he was younger, he loved "tinkering" around on various projects. He found joy in spending time with his beloved family members. There was never a dull moment with David around. His favorite entrée was fried chicken, and if there was any around, he would grab a piece.

There were a lot of hopes and dreams that went unfulfilled in David's life. However, God still used him for his divine purpose. He will be missed by his family and the care team at Oakwood Health & Rehab.

David is survived by his brother, Richard Wilcox; uncle, Marvin Hopkins; aunt, Mary Patwin; niece, Latasha Wilcox; nephew, Kenny Wilcox; his "second mama", Beatrice Payne; cousins who were like sisters, Rhonda and Cindy Payne; cousin, Janice Payne; and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly. Among those who loved him were his dedicated care team throughout the years. Special love and gratitude to: Martha Karnes, Nikki Jones; and all other nurses, CNA's, doctors, etc., who helped care for David throughout the years. The family would also love to acknowledge Ms. Carolyn J. Miller, who loved and cared for David as her own and was his earthly angel.
