Almond C. Beamer, age 85, of Bedford, transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Carriage Hill Memory Care Facility in Bedford. She was born on April 13, 1931 in Woodlawn, VA the sixth of ten children of James and Maggie Ann Clark. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Beamer, Sr.; two brothers, Howard and Leroy; and two sisters, Mattie and Verleen.


Almond was a faithful and loyal member of the New Life Baptist Church in Bedford. After moving to Lynchburg City, she joined Peaceful Baptist Church and remained a loyal member until her health failed.

She is survived by two sons, John Beamer, Jr. and  Ronald Beamer, both of Bedford; daughter, Rita B. Otey (Timothy) of Forest; four grandchildren, Elaine Staples, Vivian Woolfolk, Jessica Otey and Courtney Otey; six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Joyce, Susie, Ann, Ollie and Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Beamer and Verna Clark; one brother-in-law, Namon McRae; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Peaceful Baptist Church (2009 Park Ave Lynchburg, VA 24504.) Interment will follow in the Oldtown Memorial Cemetery in Galax, VA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016 6-8p.m. at New Life Baptist Church in Bedford. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Peaceful Baptist Church or New life Baptist Church.
